Symptoms

The backup button is grayed out in the database configuration utility.

Cause

This behavior can be caused by three things:

• Database backups must be run from the server machine and not via a Remote Desktop (RDP) session
  The server is the machine with the dongle attached.
• Regional Server support is enabled in the dongle
  Verifiable via the System Status screen.
• The SQL Server and the application server are on different machines
  The built-in SQL Server tools MUST be used to perform backup and restore operations.
