LP series system controllers have the ability to run in a legacy mode which mimics the EP series system controllers. This functionality is useful in situations where the host software has not been updated to support the LP series product line.
Enabling Legacy Mode
Dip switch number 4 when turned on will make the system controllers report and function as its legacy EP system controller.
Disabling Legacy Mode
Dip switch number 4 when turned off will make the system controllers report and function as a LP system controller.
In the unlikely event the LP system controller is running firmware less than 1.265, the date and time will be off by many years when running in legacy mode as described in knowledge base article LP Series Legacy Mode - Incorrect Date and Time.
If a LP panel is in legacy mode and EP firmware is attempted to download, the firmware will not take and can place the board into a continuous boot cycle requiring the board to be power cycled.
