When editing a badge type the error The RPC server is unavailable occurs.

Cause A

The print spooler is not running..

Resolution A

Start the print spooler service.

Cause B

There is not a print driver loaded on the local machine.

Resolution B

Load the respective print drivers for the badge printer.
