When attempting to capture a cardholder image using a Logitech web camera, the error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040217 is raised.


In one known case, this error occured due to Logitech drivers that were not compatible with Access It! Universal.NET.


Update the driver for the web camera to use the generic USB Video driver. To make this change, the following must be performed on each machine with a Logitech camera attached:

  1. Open Windows Device Manager (Start | Run | devmgmt.msc)
  2. Expand Imaging Devices
  3. Right click the Logitech Webcam and select properties
  4. Select the Driver tab
  5. Select Update Driver
  6. Select Browse my computer for driver
  7. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  8. Select USB Video Device
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Close
  11. Click Close
  12. Select Yes to reboot the computer immediately or No to reboot later
    A reboot must be performed before capturing images within Access It! Universal.NET

More Information

Issue has only been witnessed on Windows 7 machines. Machines running Windows 8 or Windows 10 were able to capture images using the Logitech drivers.

It is a known issue for this error to occur when using the onboard cameras of a Microsoft tablet. It is recommended a separate web camera be used as a workaround.
