External Reader with HandKey Reader
A card and / or PIN must be presented to the external reader before the HandKey reader will request biometric verification.
This adds a second layer of security for high risk areas.
For specific hardware references, see tables below.
When not using an external reader, the system will require a PIN to be entered on the HandKey keypad reader before the HandKey reader will request biometric verification.
This PIN is assigned within the cards properties.
For specific hardware references, see tables below.
Enrollment Reader
An enrollment reader is used to capture the biometric template. The enrollment reader is wired directly to a computers communication port via a RS-232 / RS-485 converter. The enrollment workstation must have Access It! Universal installed. The templates are then stored within the database and then downloaded to the SCPs.
Access It! Universal.NET 5.1 introduces the ability to wire a Handkey unit directly to the reader port of a MR-52 via RS-485 eliminating the need for a legacy gateway device. The Handkey gateaway must be configured for a RS-485 baud rate of 9600.
The MR-52 must be running a minimum firmware of 1.57.
