EP-2500 Redundant Communication


Overview

With the use of a Lantronix Micro/Micro125 NIC card, it is possible for an EP-2500 to switch over to the alternate communication channel upon a disconnect of the primary communication channel.

Micro/Micro125 Configuration

  1. Open the Panel Utility (Start | Programs | Access It! Universal | Client Utilities)
  2. From the File menu, select Tools | Lantronix COBOX Programmer...
  3. Enter the MAC address of the Micro/Micro125
  4. Enter a valid IP address for the Micro/Micro125
  5. Enter a valid gateway for the Micro/Micro125
  6. Enter a valid subnet mask for the Micro/Micro125
  7. Select Panel Type SCP-E
  8. Select (check) Disable Web Server
  9. If required, enter a Telnet password
  10. Click Set Configuration
  11. If successful, a confirmation message is displayed
  12. Click OK
  13. Close Panel Utility

EP-2500 Configuration

The following steps are to completed within the on-board web browser of an EP-2500

  1. Log into the EP-2500 web browser (default is admin/password)
  2. Select Host Comm from the left hand menu
  3. Within the Alternate Host Port section, select a connection type of Serial-Adapter
  4. Select Data Security None
  5. Select Baud Rate of 115200
  6. Select Flow Control of RTS/CTS
  7. Click Accept
  8. Click Apply Settings from the left hand menu
  9. Click Apply Settings Reboot

Access It! Universal Configuration

The following steps are to completed within the on-board web browser of an EP-2500

  1. Log into Access It! Universal
  2. Navigate to the Hardware tree
  3. Select Channels
  4. Select New from the toolbar
  5. Assign a friendly name within the Channel Name field
  6. Select (check) Channel Enabled
  7. Select Protocol Type SCP
  8. Select Channel Type IP Server
  9. Click Save
  10. Edit the EP-2500
  11. Select the Alt. Comm tab
  12. Select the newly created Channel
  13. Enter the IP address of the Micro/Micro125
  14. Select Port 3001
  15. Click Save
