Allegion AD 400 Series


Overview

This document outlines how to program and integrate an Allegion AD-400 series lock to Access It!® Universal.

Access It! Universal.NET Licensing
The following licensing option must be enabled within the Access It! Universal.NET dongle and is a per integrated reader count license.

  • Integrated Reader Count - 1/x

Required Components

The following components are required to complete the integration.

  • Access It!® Universal min s/w v3
  • EP-2500 min f/w 1.241
  • PIM400-485 min f/w 2.15
    Refer to the PIM documentation on how to update the PIM-400-485 firmware.
  • HHD-Kit
    Windows CE device with Schlage Utility Software (SUS) pre-loaded, and USB cable included.
  • AD-400 Series lock

Comm Failure Issues:
There are no RS-485 termination resistors on the PIM400-485 PCBA.  Any RS-485 termination resistors need to be added on the J5 connector.  Since you are using a 2 wire RS-485 the PIM400-485 shorting jumpers, J19 & J20, should be installed.  This means that TDB+ and RBD+ are shorted together and TDA- and RDA- are shorted together.  So if the two RS-485 wires are connected to TDB+ (pin 2)  and TDA-(pin 4)  as shown below, a RS-485 termination resistor can be connected between RDB+ (pin 2) and RDA- (pin 5).

Configuring The PIM400-485

  1. Connect the USB cable to the PIM400-485 and Handheld Device (HHD) running SUS
  2. On the HHD, launch SUS
  3. Login as Manager
    Default password is 123456.
  4. If successfully connected, the PIM400-485 will be listed
  5. Select Device Options
  6. Select PIM400-485 Properties
  7. Select the Edit tab
  8. Select the RS-485 Address field
  9. Assign an address to the PIM400-485
    All SIO devices wired to the EP-2500 need to be uniquely addressed between 0 and 31. There is a 8 PIM400-485 or 64 door limit.
  10. Set the Low Door address and the High Door address value
    The Door Address ranges must be unique between PIM400-485 modules wired on the RS-485 bus.
  11. Select Save
  12. Select OK
  13. Select Back
  14. Close SUS
  15. Disconnect the USB cable from the PIM400-485 and the HHD
    If an AD-400 needs to be linked to the PIM400-485, see Linking an AD-400 Lock prior to disconnecting the HHD.
  16. Wire the PIM400-485 to the EP-2500
    See the Hardware / Wiring References table.

Linking An AD-400 Lock

Only one AD-400 can be linked at a time. Ensure that no other PIM400-485 units are in link mode during this process.

  1. Verify the AD-400 lock has batteries installed
  2. Connect the USB cable to the PIM400-485 and Handheld Device (HHD) running SUS
  3. On the HHD, launch SUS
  4. Login as Manager
    Default password is 123456.
  5. If successfully connected, the PIM400-485 will be listed
  6. Select Device Options
  7. Select PIM400-485 Properties
  8. Select the Link tab
  9. Select the door to link
  10. Select Link
  11. The PIM400-485 is now in Link mode
  12. Open the Door of the AD-400 lock
  13. Create a REX by holding inside lever or crash bar
  14. While holding inside lever or crash bar, present a card to the reader or press any button on the keypad other than the Schlage button
  15. Continue to hold down the inside lever or crash bar until the Schlage button starts to blink green,indicating the link process has begun
  16. Release the inside lever or crash bar
  17. The Schlage button will flash green, and the beeper will beep
    The number of blinks/beeps represents the RF channel number. If the lock fails, the Schlage button will blink red (3) times and have (5) short beeps. The PIM400-485 will remain in link mode. Move the AD-400 and/or change the RF channel and repeat steps 12-16.
  18. Test the lock for functionality

Access It! Universal

  1. Install and configure the EP-2500 to communicate with Access It!® Universal.
  2. From the file menu, select Go | Main | Hardware
  3. Select SCP’s
  4. Edit the EP-2500
  5. Set Port speed to 9600 for appropriate port

  6. Set Protocol to Ingersoll Rand PIM for appropriate port
    The EP Channel that the PIM400-485s wired to.
  7. Click Save
    The EP 2500 board will reset.
  8. From the left hand tree, expand SCP’s
  9. Expand the EP-2500
  10. Select SIOs
    Do not expand.
  11. From the right hand pane, edit the SIO that has the address of the PIM400-485
    See step 9 of Configuring the PIM400-485.
  12. Name the PIM400-485
  13. Set Model to Ingersoll Rand Gateway/PIM
  14. Check Device Installed
  15. Set Channel accordingly
    The EP Channel that the PIM400-485s wired to.
  16. Select the Options tab
  17. Set Number of Readers accordingly
  18. Click Save
