4G V-Flex Lite


Overview

The 4G V-Flex Lite is a combination fingerprint and card reader. When used with Mercury-Security hardware and Access It! Universal’s Biometric option the 4G V-Flex Lite requires a valid card transaction prior to presenting a finger. This card presentation can be at the internal reader of the 4G-V-Flex Lite, or a separate external reader. Two reader ports must be used for each 4G V-Flex Lite installation.

The 4G V-Flex Lite (S,O) iClass reader is not supported.

The overall procedure when presenting a card is as follows:

  • A Card is presented at the internal reader or an external reader.
  • The EP controller recognizes that the internal/external reader requires a biometric verification.
  • The EP controller initializes the 4G V-Flex Lite and prompts for a finger to be presented.
  • The fingerprint read is sent to the EP controller.
  • The EP controller compares the fingerprint read to the stored template within its database.
  • If fingerprint comparison matches, the EP controller grants access to the internal/external reader.

Access It! Universal Licensing
The following licensing option must be enabled within the Access It! Universal dongle and is a system wide license.

Installation Requirements

The 4G V-Flex Lite requires the following:

  • Access It! Universal min s/w v4
  • Access It! Universal optional Biometric license enabled
  • L1 Identity Solutions SecureAdmin Lite software
  • 4G V-Flex Lite (S,P) min f/w v4.4.6.0.3.a1.0

The 4G V-Flex Lite must be powered through a separate power supply. Refer to the L-1/Morpho Installation Guide for specific power information.

SecureAdmin Lite

Prior to making any changes, the 4G V-Flex Lite must already be registered in SecureAdmin Lite. Contact L1/Morpho for any registration inquiries.

  1. Log into SecureAdmin Lite
  2. Select Network
  3. Select Network Tree
  4. Expand Device Network
  5. Expand DefaultGroup
  6. Double click the 4G V-Flex Lite
  7. Select the Communication tab
  8. Set the Device ID to 0
    If using two Bioscrypt readers on the EP1501, the second one needs to be address 1.
  9. Set the Host Protocol to RS-485
  10. Set the Host Baud Rate to 38400
  11. Click Apply
  12. Select the Biometrics tab
  13. Within the Device mode field, select Verify
  14. Select the Template Type 1:1 TEM
  15. In the Multi-User Verification set the Number of Users to 1
  16. In the Biometric Verification and Finger Detection Settings section, check Activate Biometric Verification
  17. Click Apply
  18. Close SecureAdmin Lite
  19. Run the attached WeigandPollingMode.exe utility and connect to the 4G V-Flex Lite
  20. Enable the Wiegand Polling Mode
  21. Disconnect from the 4G V-Flex Lite
  22. Close the WeigandPollingMode.exe utility

Access It! Universal.NET 5.2

  1. Within Access It! Universal.NET navigate to the Hardware menu
  2. Select SCPs
  3. Edit the EP controller the Biometric reader is installed under
  4. Select the Biometrics tab
  5. Select Edit Biometric Types
  6. Select New
  7. Within the Biometric type description, enter the name Morpho 4G
  8. From the Biometric template type, select Bioscrypt/Morpho Fingerprint
  9. Select the Default security threshold
    • The default threshold determines the ratio of false rejects to false accepts.
      • Highest – Most Secure
      • Medium – Default Settings
      • Lowest – Least Secure
  10. If needed, check the Store security threshold per user checkbox
  11. Click OK
  12. Click Save
  13. Within the Hardware menu, select Installed Readers
  14. Edit the reader that the 4G V-Flex Lite's RS-485 wiring is attached to
  15. Select the Reader Settings tab
  16. Set the Reader Type to Bioscrypt
  17. Click Save
  18. Edit the reader that the external reader is attached to
  19. Select the Biometrics tab
  20. Select the 4G V-Flex Lite reader from the Associated Biometric Reader list
  21. Check the box Require Biometric Verification
  22. Click Save

Configuring Enrollment Users

  1. Within Access It! Universal.NET navigate to the Configuration menu
  2. Select UserGroups
  3. Edit a UserGroup responsible for enrolling fingerprint templates
  4. Select the Permissions tab
  5. Expand the Cardholder node
  6. Select Biometrics
  7. Ensure Full Access is selected within the right hand pane
  8. Click Save
  9. Select Users
  10. Create a new or edit an existing user responsible for biometric enrollment
  11. Assign the User to the modfied UserGroup
  12. Click Save

Enrolling Biometric Template To New Cardholders

  1. Within Access It! Universal.NET navigate to Main | Cardholders
  2. Select New from the toolbar
  3. During the New Cardholder/Card wizard there will be a step entitled Capture Biometric Information
  4. Select Morpho/Bioscrypt
  5. Select Capture Template
    Upon first time enrollment, click Setup... to configure communication parameters.
  6. Present finger at the 4G V-Flex Lite reader
  7. Remove Finger
  8. Click Next to complete the new Cardholder/Card wizard

Enrolling Biometric Template To Existing Cardholders

  1. Within Access It! Universal navigate to Main | Cardholders
  2. Edit an existing cardholder
  3. Select the Biometrics tab
  4. Select Morpho/Bioscrypt
  5. Select Capture Template
    Upon first time enrollment, click Setup... to configure communication parameters.
  6. Present finger at the 4G V-Flex Lite reader
  7. Remove Finger
  8. Click Save

Site Configuration

  1. Within Access It! Universal navigate to System | Sites
  2. Edit the Site that will be using the biometric option
  3. In the Biometric Reader Type list select Bioscrypt
  4. Click Save
    All SCPs within the site will be reset; during this time cards will stop working for up to 10 minutes.
  5. Restart Access It! Universal for changes to take effect

Hardware Tree Configuration

  1. Within Access It! Universal navigate to Main | Hardware
  2. Select SCPs
  3. Edit the EP controller the Biometric reader is installed under
  4. Select the Biometrics tab
  5. Enter the maximum number of biometrics the EP will store
    The EP card capacity will decrease as the maximum number of templates increases.
  6. Select the Default security threshold
    • The default threshold determines the ratio of false rejects to false accepts.
      • Highest – Most Secure
      • Medium – Default Settings
      • Lowest – Least Secure
  7. If needed, check the Store security threshold per user checkbox if needed
  8. When checked, the default security threshold for the SCP can be overridden on a per Cardholder basis. This option is useful when environmental conditions may require certain card holders to have a less secure security threshold to allow biometric verification when dealing with dirty or harsh environments.
  9. Click Save
  10. Within the Hardware Tree, select Installed Readers
  11. Edit the reader that the 4G V-Flex Lite's RS-485 wiring is attached to
  12. Select the Reader Settings tab
  13. Set the Reader Type to Bioscrypt
  14. Click Save
  15. Edit the reader that the external reader is attached to
  16. Select the Biometrics tab
  17. Select the 4G V-Flex Lite reader from the Associated Biometric Reader list
  18. Check the box Require Biometric Verification
  19. Click Save

Configuring Enrollment Station

  1. Within Access It! Universal navigate to System | Workstations
  2. Edit the workstation that will be the enrollment station
  3. Select the Cardholder Enrollment tab
  4. In the Bioscrypt/L-1/Morpho Fingerprint settings select 4G
  5. Set communication settings
    • If 4G V-Flex Lite is configured using an IP address, select Ethernet IP Address and enter the IP address
    • If the 4G V-Flex Lite is attached to the enrollment station using RS-232, select Comm Port and enter the Comm Port information as needed
  6. Click Save
  7. Exit Access It! Universal

Enrolling Biometric Template To New Cardholders

  1. Within Access It! Universal navigate to Main | Cardholders
  2. Select New from the toolbar
  3. During the New Cardholder/Card wizard there will be a step titled Capture Biometric Information
  4. Set the Security Threshold
  5. Select Capture Template
  6. Present finger at the 4G V-Flex Lite reader
  7. Remove Finger
  8. Click Next to complete the new Cardholder/Card wizard
