4G V-Station PIN + Fingerprint

Overview

The V-Station 4G is a combination fingerprint reader with a keypad and built in proximity reader. When used with Mercury-Security hardware and Access It! Universal’s Biometric option the V-Station 4G supports a method of entering a PIN on the keypad and then presenting a fingerprint.

The overall procedure when entering a PIN at this reader is as follows:

  • A Cardholder enters a PIN number on the V-Station 4G.
  • The EP controller recognizes that the PIN reader requires a biometric verification.
  • The EP controller initializes the 4G V-Station and prompts for a finger to be presented.
  • The fingerprint read is sent to the EP controller.
  • The EP controller compares the fingerprint read to the stored template within its database.
  • If fingerprint comparison matches, the EP controller grants access to the external reader.
