EP-1501 / MR-51e PoE Recommendations

Overview

The EP-1501 and the MR-51e are boards utilizing Power over Ethernet (PoE). This article defines the power and communication settings for each board.

EP-1501

PoE Power Level

The EP-1501 Poe power input complies to the IEEE 802.3af standard and has a PoE power input of 12.95W. The EP-1501 may be locally powered via 12vDC @ 650mA in cases when PoE is not available.

Communication

The EP-1501 is communicates over the network using a 10-BaseT/100Base-TX connection.

MR-51E

PoE Power Level

The MR-51e Poe power input complies to the IEEE 802.3af standard. The IEEE 802.3af-2003 PoE standard provides up to 15.4 W of DC power (minimum 44 V DC and 350 mA) to each device. The MR-51e may be locally powered via 12vDC @ 650mA in cases when PoE is not available.

Communication

The EP-1501 is communicates over the network using a 10-BaseT/100Base-TX connection. Should any communication issues arise between the MR-51e and EP controller, it is recommended to configure the network switch port for 10Mb/s Half Duplex. 10 Mb/s Half Duplex is more than fast enough to handle the data transfer rates required by the MR-51e so there should be no noticeable impact for running the MR-51e in this configuration.

More Information
