Overview

"Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object" is a generic error that occurs when the object being referenced in the database is null.

Symptom A

When running a Data Exchange Package using Active Directory, the error log generated shows records failing with the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Cause A

This is caused by users in Active Directory missing attributes being requested by the Data Exchange Package.

Resolution A

Adjust Active Directory so that requested attributes are present on all records being imported, or adjust the Data Exchange Package to omit mappings to attributes that do not exist for every user.

Symptom B

When creating a new Badge Type the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is raised.

Cause B

This is caused by Windows not having a default printer selected.

Resolution B

Configure a printer as the default printer for Windows.
